Four People Shot at Howe Park - Unsanctioned Gathering Turns Violent
On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unlawful gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Park in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood ended in a shooting when 20 to 25 rounds echoed through the area as law enforcement officers were working to clearing the crowd.
A Timeline of Events
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received calls about individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. An additional caller advised of a reported fight and people leaving the area quickly.
Air support was deployed and surveyed the area from above but found no evidence of the reported fight.
Even so, multiple hundreds of people had come together at Howe Community Park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unapproved assembly. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies encircled the park, activated emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes instructing attendees to vacate the area via loudspeaker announcements.
While deputies were dispersing the crowd, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were discharged — triggering a panicked crowd in all directions at once.
Victims of the Shooting
Four victims — three men and one woman, all in their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. What Was Found at the Scene
The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot store was temporarily locked down. Additional spent casings were identified on Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the wrought iron fence around the Home Depot — showing gunfire directed south from the Cottage Way area toward the store. The Suspect Vehicle
Through scanner communications, it was revealed that a vehicle of Howe Community Park shooting 2026 interest — a Kia automobile — was more info pulled over in nearby Solano County with four individuals detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and transport them back to Sacramento County. Video evidence confirmed two gunmen were present.
